GenderShop 2.0

The objective of the Gendershops is to challenge the accepted gender norms, stereotypes, and ideas of femininity and masculinity, as well as beauty ideals.

Furthermore, the Gendershops aim to create a bond of sisterhood among girls and to help boys avoid the traps of toxic masculinity while aiming to reduce gender-based violence within schools and communities. The Gendershops have been implemented in Addis Ababa from 2018 to 2019, reaching 2225 students in six schools. The training was provided by 40 trainers who were recruited and trained by Setaweet team members with rich experience in gender equality content development and training delivery.

Currently, Gendershop targets 4200 women university and secondary school students as well as 50 married young women and girls aged 14-20.
