The app will create a space for survivors and witnesses of to report the incident of GBV by submitting the location and additional details like time and date, type of GBV, and the details of the perpetrator. The App will locate areas with crime reporting rates on the geographical map.

This information will provide insight into the magnitude of the issue by triangulating data from various data sources (hospitals, gender-based organizations, and government reports). The pilot project aims to analyze current data collection methods of Police, which will eventually be used as a tool for lobbying and advocacy for the following issues around gender-based violence.

It also helps to create a comprehensive database on gender-based violence incidents that can help government authorities and civil society gain a deeper understanding of gender-based violence across Addis Ababa, identifying unmet needs, and raising public awareness.The app will create a space for survivors and witnesses of to report the incident of GBV by submitting the location and additional details like time and date, type of GBV, and the details of the perpetrator. The App will also have a resource center with to help users have information regarding referral contact addresses and materials that will help prevent and respond to GBV.

The App, additionally, will allow users to discuss the incidents and get support from fellow users.

Through this, we expect to come up with recommendations for ways forward by identifying the gaps in crime data collection formats and procedures as well as an analysis of Reported Gender-based violence data from Police directorates in Addis Ababa to be used as a tool for advocacy.

This will be followed by a technological solution to report crimes through a mobile app that law enforcement officials can easily access. This app is under production with the assistance of Opian Tech.
